We Welcome You!

St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church was founded by Greek immigrants in 1906. They became part of the melting pot of America, working in its factories, starting businesses, and building an Orthodox church in which they could practice the Christian faith. Orthodoxy is the original expression of Christ’s resurrection from the time of Pentecost, when the disciples were made Apostles of the faith, and dates from the early church fathers thousands of years ago.

The Orthodox church split with the western Latin church (Catholicism) in 1054 AD. While there are many self-running (autocephalous) Orthodox communities throughout the world, each is in communion with one another.

Today, St. Spyridon has evolved from an ethnic church to an Orthodox church open to all and made up of many diverse backgrounds. Our Sunday liturgy service is a beautiful expression of the faith with its sounds, sights, and smells and beautiful Byzantine hand painted icons that transfer one to God’s world. While its roots will always be Greek, the expression of the faith will be geared to the body of the church: its people. Today, the liturgy service is done mostly in English, with some prayers and hymns repeated in Greek.

Please explore this website, as there is much more information on the Orthodox faith, our church history, services, programs, and community outreach.  Most importantly, consider joining us and explore the Apostolic church that started it all…Orthodoxy! Welcome!
